Poděbrady will host walking open race for 20 km race and shorter additional races.
Registration takes place online on the race website (www.podebrady-walking.cz) in the Race Entry section, both for the World Athletics meeting and for accompanying races. You can register from Thursday, March 6, 2025 to Sunday, May 4, 2025 (11:59 p.m.).
Poděbrady Walking is also part of the World Athletics Race Walking Tour series in 2025, namely its highest Gold category. The best European athletes will take part in European Race Walking Team Championship.
About the meeting
The history of pedestrian races connected with Podebrady dates back to the 19th century. However, the long tradition is certainly not dying out at the moment, on the contrary. Its freshness is evidenced by a number of recent events.
In 1997 Czech athletics celebrated one hundred years with a successful World Cup in Poděbrady. In the 2017 season, the European Cup was held here on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the domestic "queen of sports". In 2021 and 2023, Podebrady hosted the European Race Walking Team Championships.
The sporting level of Poděbrady is evidenced by the fact that in the quality assessment according to the WA methodology, both the meeting and the European championships are traditionally in the highest ranks among the wakling events. In the ranking, which monitors performances and also takes into account the level of the participants themselves, the European championship in 2023 took first place (shared with Slovakia's Dudince).
